The Versatile Model TD500N and TD500 are excellent secondary tillage machines. With an average weight per foot of 500 lb., they are available in either 8" or 9" blade spacing and working widths ranging from 18' to 40 ' 6".
Versatile’s Legacy tillage has been proven over the past five decades and hundreds of thousands of acres. The tandem discs are built to handle harsh conditions and even harsher crop residue. The robust frame (350-700 lb/ft) and extreme-duty gang bearing options assure longevity and reliability in the field. The wide selection of weight classes, working widths from 11'6" to 40' and blade spacings ranging from 8" to 12" means the right tandem disc is available for light, medium and heavy primary tillage needs.

Features may include:

Multiple Hydraulic Upgrades

• Optional Single Point Depth Control and Hydraulic Hitch Angle Adjustment allow the operator to quickly fine tune their tandem disc to the tillage conditions they are encountering. These upgrades allow depth setting and hitch angle corrections to be made in seconds with minimal effort.

Blade Scrapers

• All tandem discs feature one piece, 4" wide blade scrapers made of carbon steel for long wear life. The scrapers are U-bolt mounted for maximum adjustment on a heavy-duty tubular steel bar. All scrapers are located high end to the inside of the blade for maximum trash flow and to reduce draft requirements. This eliminates the need for trash guards.

Transport

• Hydraulic lockout valves are supplied standard to prevent accidental operation of either the lift or wing cylinders when the disc is being transported. The TD500N boasts a transport width of under 12', and the TD600N folds into an impressive 9.5' wide transport package.

Staggered Front Gangs

• Staggered, overlapping front gangs are standard (except on TD400) and ensure that all soil at the center of the disc is cut out cleanly and evenly. Besides leaving a more level soil profile, this feature eliminates the need for a center shank or bulk buster normally supplied on most conventional tandems.

Removable Spindle Axles

• Versatile tandem discs are built with maintenance concerns in mind. All spindle axles are designed for easy removal and maximum strength. Each spindle is bolted into a sleeve and can be removed by simply removing the bolt and pulling out the axle. This will save valuable time if repairs to a tire are needed.

Steel Fabricated Spools

• Versatile discs feature fabricated steel half and full spools. Unlike cast iron spools, steel spools can withstand far greater “shock loads” from rocks or stumps thereby eliminating spool breakage. The fabricated spools are compressed to maximum density prior to assembly and will not shift and become loose.

Large Gang Shaft

• Versatile discs feature a large 1 15/16" diameter, high carbon steel gang shaft. This gang shaft along with Versatile’s steel fabricated spools allows the gang assembly to be torqued at the factory to 3,200 ft/lb.

Furrow Filler Blades

• In order to get the most uniform and consistent field finish, Versatile tandem discs have furrow filler blades as standard equipment. Furrow filler blades are standard, the first 4" smaller than the working blades and the second 8" smaller. These blades along with full sizes blades work together to create a uniform well-worked field.

Hydraulic Lift System

• Depth stop segments are supplied with each disc that clamp onto the main frame lift cylinder to ensure continuous same-depth tilling. Each of the wing frames can be easily levelled using a conveniently located eye-bolt adjustment. Cylinder arms on each of the rockshafts are equipped with replaceable hardened wear bushings for prolonged trouble free performance.

Interlocking Half Spools

• This exclusive Versatile feature ensures that each bearing sleeve interlocks with adjoining half spools to provide positive drive to blades and reduces the possibility of blades turning on the gang shaft. Optional with 26" blades, standard with 28" and larger (available on 10.5" and 12" spacing only).

Standard Stone-Flex Bearing Hangers

• Stone-Flex hangers come standard on all Versatile tandem discs and provide additional protection to the gang bearings, blades and components. With extreme side loads present on tandem disc gangs and the possibility of rocks in some areas, Stone-Flex hangers are perfect for absorbing shock loads. The C-shaped spring steel reacts to both vertical and horizontal shock loads and disc blade penetration is not compromised like it is with spring-loaded gang systems.
